It was nearly 50 years ago that Hodding Carter praised Millsaps College "as perhaps the most courageous institution in the nation." In the deep South, at the height of the civil rights movement, the College led the way in support of social justice and equality for all. The flame of social conscience still burns brightly at Millsaps, where students actively work to change the world around them for the better through community service that impacts both the college and the greater Jackson area.
